Recording using external browser doesn't actually record

I've evaluating the trial version but when I try to record using an external browser for a profile, whilst I can see "Recording..." in the left-hand pane, nothing appears under it as I navigate in the browser. This happens for IE and Firefox. Google Chrome however is fine.

If I try recording using the embedded browser, after entering the start URL, after an age eventually I get an error in the embedded browser saying "This program cannot display the webpage".

If you use an external browser for recording you should record in it, not in the embedded left-hand pane.
