I am new to performance testing. Could anyone please clarify the following details for me:
1. Can we create a load of 1000 +/- users/connections in WAPT using only 1 profile?
2. What is the use of creating different or more than 1 profile within a test?
3. If we are creating/simulating a real time scenario with say, 100 +/- users in a test, is it the same as creating 100 +/- different connections which will be trying to access the website at the same time? I mean if we impose a Fixed Load on the portal.
Any response will be very helpful in solving many issues for me. Thanks in Advance - Leela Manohar

Hi Leela,

If my understanding is correct then the answers to your questions are as follows:

1. Yes you can create a load of 1000 +/- users/connections in WAPT using only 1 profile
2. You use multiple profiles to create the scenario you have suggested in question 3 - to have more than 1 person hitting your site, e.g., 100 users split into 10 profiles = 10 groups of users going down different routes through your website, all at the same time.
3. Yes, it's the same idea at least, or certainly as close as you're going to get to simulating the real thing - that's why you'll use different profiles - to make it more realistic.

Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
